IHC adjourns hearing against promotions of civil servants

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought a reply from the federal government by June 10, in petitions against recent promotions from BPS-20 to 21 of civil servants.

The one-judge bench comprising of Justice Shaukat Aziz Saddiqui heard the cases.

During last hearing, the court had clubbed around 30 identical petitions filed by the superseded officers from Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS),Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), Pakistan Custom Services (PCS), Inland Revenue Service (IRS), Secretariat Group, Engineering Service of Pakistan Railways and Medical Group of Pakistan and Railways; and their contention was that they were deprived of promotions from BPS-20 to 21.

The IHC had already restrained the federal government from notifying promotions of dozens of civil servants from grade 20 to 21.

The court has directed the federation to submit its reply and adjourned hearing of the case till June 10.
