PARIS: Swiss eighth seed Stan Wawrinka defeated Serbia's Dusan Lajovic 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 to reach the French Open third round on Wednesday.

The former Australian Open champion hit 11 aces and 53 winners but served up nine double faults and committed 52 unforced errors.

He will face Steve Johnson of the United States for a place in the last 16.
