PARIS: Roger Federer advanced to the third round of the French Open on Wednesday by ousting Marcel Granollers of Spain 6-2, 7-6 (7/1), 6-3.

The Swiss second seed, champion at Roland Garros in 2009, now goes on to a meeting with either Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus or Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia in the last 32.
