Metro Bus Service a splendid project: CM

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus service was a splendid project regarding provision of comfortable, speedy and affordable travelling facilities to the people.

He said that the project would bring a revolutionary change in transport sector, says a handout.

He expressed these views while addressing a high level meeting in Islamabad regarding Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project.

Punjab Director Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Zahid Saeed gave a detailed briefing on the progress of the project.

The Chief Minister said that the project was a shining example of utilization of public money on the masses.

He said that Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project was continuity of the process of change in transport culture started by the Punjab government through completing Lahore metro bus project in a record period of time and this journey would continue in future as well.

The Chief Minister said that such transport facilities would become available to the citizens of the twin cities with the inauguration of metro bus project as are available to the people in big cities of the world and all segments of the society will benefit from this project.

He said that metro bus project was a reflection of priorities of the government with regard to public service.

He said that metro bus service was a splendid project for eliminating transport problems and spending of resources on the masses.

Shahbaz Sharif said the project of public service would soon be inaugurated and it will be an important day for the citizens of the twin cities.

He said that metro bus service was an important step towards modernizing transport means. He said that the work of installation of elevators on escalators on all packages of the project should be completed at the earliest.

Shahbaz Sharif further directed that he should be informed on daily basis about the pace of work on all packages of the project.

Later, the Chief Minister visited Package-5 Pak Secretariat bus station and directed to complete construction and decoration work as soon as possible.

He also inspected Pak Secretariat bus station, landscaping and decoration at Package-5 bus stations. The Chief Minister appreciated the hard work and dedication of Project Director Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed, Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal, contractors and engineers.

Chairman Metro Bus Implementation Committee Hanif Abbasi, Project Director Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed, Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal, Secretary Information & Culture Punjab Momin Agha, contractors as well as senior officers attended the meeting.
