Energy crisis being resolved speedily: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday that work is being carried out on war footings for resolving energy crisis.

Talking to parliamentarians belonging to Jhang here, the Chief Minister said that sincere efforts are being made for ridding the country of quagmire of problems under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

He said that National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) have given underwriting of Rs 84 billion for Punjab government's 1200 megawatt gas-based power plant at Bhekhi near Sheikhupura. The underwriting of Rs 84 billion by the NBP and HBL for the project is a welcome step, he added.

Shahbaz Sharif said that historic package of $ 46 billion by China is a milestone for development and prosperity of the country, adding that energy projects will be completed with high speed, quality and transparency.

While, the parliament congratulated Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on receiving underwriting of Rs 84 billion for gas project. They said that due to untiring efforts and hard work of Shahbaz Sharif, the country will rid of energy crisis.

The parliamentarians included MNAs Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Sahibzada Nazir Sultan, Sahibzada Amir Sultan, Sahibzada Mehboob Sultan, Ghulam Muhammad Lali, former MNA Sahibzada Hameed Sultan, Sahibzada Habib Sultan and MPA Muhammad Azam Chela.
