NA-122 case adjourned till 25th

LAHORE: An election tribunal on Saturday adjourned hearing of NA-122 alleged rigging case till May 25 after accepting plea of Imran's counsel for allowing cross examination of NA-122 and PP-147 forensic reports together.

The tribunal comprising Justice (R) Kazim Ali Malik was hearing the election petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek- e- Insaf Chairman Imran Khan challenging the election of Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq from NA-122 constituency.

During the hearing, Chairman NADRA Usman Yousuf Mobeen and DG (Data) NADRA Muzzafar Ali appeared before the tribunal for recording their statements and cross examination, on being summoned by the tribunal.

However, Imran Khan's counsel Anis Hashmi submitted that the tribunal had ordered verification of thumb impressions of votes polled in NA-122 and PP-147 constituencies. He said that the NADRA had submitted NA-122 forensic report but PP-147 forensic report was still awaited.

He submitted that PP-147 constituency fall under NA-122 constituency and had same voters. He pleaded the court to allow cross examination on both reports together after submission of PP-147 forensic report.

The NADRA officials apprised the tribunal that the PP-147 forensic report would be submitted by May 25.

At this, the tribunal accepting Imran Khan 's counsel request adjourned the further hearing till May 25.
