Shahbaz review progress on land record automation

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that Patwar culture will be eliminated in the province through the Land Record Management Information System project.

Chairing a meeting to review progress on the project here, he said that common man will get real relief with the project of billion of rupees of Punjab government.

The meeting also decided to set up a separate independent institution for future monitoring and implementation of the project.

Land Record Management Information System, he said, is a revolutionary step regarding immediate obtaining of ownership deed to the people and provision of land documents is becoming possible under one roof through this project.

Shahbaz Sharif said, the process of computerization of more than 24,000 villages of the province had been completed. He directed that project should be completed within stipulated period at any cost, besides ensuring speedy progress with regard to setting up of state-of-the-art centralized data center. He said that an effective plan should be evolved for preserving old settlement record.

The Chief Minister said that service centers are fully operational in 143 tehsils of the province and its scope should be extended to sub-tehsil level. He directed that necessary steps should be taken for constituting Land Record Management Information Authority.

Chairman Planning & Development gave a detailed briefing about the progress of the project made so far.

While, Provincial Minister Mian Yawar Zaman, MPAs Rana Sanaullah, Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Qamar-ul-Islam, Mian Tariq Mehmood, Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue, concerned secretaries and senior officials attended the meeting.
