LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday restrained Punjab Secretary Co-operative Babar Hayat from work till further orders and issued a contempt notice on violation of the court orders.

Justice Muhammad Farrukh Irfan Khan passed the orders while hearing a contempt petition filed by Fiza and five others against violation of the court orders.

During the hearing, the petitioners' counsel submitted that the court disposing of a petitioners' plea ordered the secretary cooperative to amend his orders as per civil court and registrar co-operatives directions to enable petitioners to get registered as legal heirs of Hafiz Mehmood in Model Town Society. However, the secretary had failed to comply with court directions, he added.

To a court query, Secretary Babar Hayat maintained that his orders could not be questioned in the court.

At this, the court expressed annoyance on secretary's stance and issued a contempt notice and also restrained him from work while adjourning the matter till May 18.
