Prime Minister congratulates nation on successful LB polls

LONDON: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Sunday congratulated the nation on the peaceful and successful completion of the local bodies elections held in cantonment boards throughout the country.

The Prime Minister, who is on a visit to London, in a message said that the institution of local bodies served as a nursery for democracy and provided an opportunity to solve the problems of the people at their doorstep. This would go a long way in strengthening democracy in the country, he added.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the participation of the people in the local bodies elections boded well for the democracy in the country.

He congratulated all the candidates who had won election and expressed the hope that they would work wholeheartedly to serve the people of Pakistan.

In his capacity as President of the PML-N, the Prime Minister congratulated the PML-N candidates for winning elections on party ticket. This impressive victory of the party in all the four provinces was an endorsement of the people-friendly policies pursued by the present government, he said.

He said that the results of the local bodies elections also reflected that the people who had voted for the PML-N in general election 2013 continued to repose their confidence in the PML-N, which was striving to improve the socio-economic conditions of the people of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister said that he firmly believed in democracy and strengthening of all institutions including local bodies for the greater good of the people of Pakistan.
