LCCI former SVP offers free hepatitis treatment to prisoners

LAHORE: Former Senior Vice President, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Meher Kashif Younis Sunday offered free treatment of hepatitis to inmates in camp jail and central jail, Kot Lakhpat.

Jail sources told APP here that he made this announcement during his recent visit to camp jail.

Meher Kahif visited jail hospital, kitchen, stores and different barracks.

He highly appreciated the best quality of food being served to inmates with good-baked breads on roti plants which he observed was thousands of times better than outside hotels while inmates have also direct access to filter water for drinking.

He was impressed with the prevailing hygienic conditions in and around the kitchen besides free medical treatment to ailing inmates within jail premises.

He appreciated the role of Superintendent, Shahram Tauqir Khan for maintaining conducive atmosphere in and around the prison.

Meher said that it was his first visit to any jail and his views about the plight in jail had altogether changed.

It may be mentioned here that Inspector General of Prisons Punjab, Mian Farooq Nazeer has started inviting elite of the town and dignitaries from different strata of society to visit jails to have first hand knowledge about reforms introduced by Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
