The police sources said that the armed men targeted SHO Ijaz Khawaja in his car at Korangi Road near Akhtar Colony. He was rushed to Jinnah hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police has registered a case and started investigation.

In another incident a lady Vice Principal of a private medical and dental college was critically injured in firing by unknown gunmen in the limits of Ferozabad police station.

The victim identified as Dr. Debra Lobo was shifted to a private hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has condemned the terrorists attack on the SHO Ijaz Khawaja that caused his martyrdom and directed IG Sindh Police to conduct an inquiry into incident, identify the causes, weakness if any in security measures and submit the report within a week to him.

He also directed him to arrest the accused without delay.
