Taylor's ton run continues on Championship debut

LONDON: Former Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor marked his County Championship debut for Nottinghamshire with a hundred against Middlesex at Lord's on Sunday.

The 29-year-old rounded off his international career by making back-to-back hundreds against Ireland and India at the recent World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and then made 105 on his debut appearance for Nottinghamshire against Loughborough MCC University.

His rich vein of form continued at the 'home of cricket' on Sunday as Taylor, for whom the financial security of a three-year county deal was a major factor in his decision to cut short his 23 Test and 167 one-day international Zimbabwe career, completed a hundred in 160 balls including 14 fours.

Taylor's 106 was the centrepiece of Nottinghamshire's 298 for nine on the first day of their First Division match away to Middlesex.

He was eventually lbw to Middlesex paceman James Harris, who led the home side's attack with four for 75.
