LAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council central chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has urged the government to ensure all out cooperation for the security of Harmain Shareefain as well as defence of Saudi Arabia.

He was talking to several delegations of Ulema after returning from Umrah at Baitul Aman here on Wednesday.

He said 2.2 million Pakistanis were working in Saudi Arabia and they were worried on baseless statements of some leaders and parties on the situation of Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

He was of the view that Pakistan has a long term relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) so it was out of question that Pakistan would betray its friend.

Ashrafi said that it was a religious obligation to protect Harmain Shareefain while cooperation with the brother country KSA was an ethical responsibility of the nation.

He urged the parliamentarians to consider bilateral relationships of Pakistan and the KSA when they were delivering speeches in the parliamentarians.

He said a pressure should be exerted on Iran to play its role for peace in Yemen through dialogue between the warring parties.

He said the whole Muslim nation was worried over the Yemen issue and stressed the need for effective contacts among the Muslim countries to counter conspiracies against Harmain Shareefain.

He said Pakistan with the cooperation of other Muslim countries should play its role for the elimination of anarchy and tension in Yemen and Middle East.
