Garbage transfer stations to be established in city

KARACHI: Government of Sindh is establishing six Garbage Transfer Stations (GTS) here in different districts, each station will cover 7 to 8 acres of land.

The decision was taken during the meeting of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), said a handout issued here Wednesday.

The meeting was presided over by Managing Director (SSWMB) Roshan Ali Sheikh and attended Board Secretary Dr Nusrat Ali Panwhar, all Executive Directors and Director Media Management Shabeeh Siddique.

Roshan Ali Sheikh said that on the special instructions of Sindh Chief Minister and Chief Secretary all out efforts are being made to provide neat and clean environment to the public and the formation of SSWMB is the part of these efforts.

He informed that for safe transfer of solid waste and to make it useful, GTS will be established in different areas of the city. Sheikh said that GTS will be made fully covered for the safety of residents of surrounding areas.The workers of GTS will wear special dresses for their safety, he added.
