ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the petition filed by Shahid Orakzai challenging the appointment procedure of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

The two-member bench of the apex court comprising Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Justice Amir Hani Muslim heard the case. Petitioner Shahid Orakzai,in his petition, stated that constitutional provisions were ignored while appointing Chief Election Commissioner.

During course of proceedings, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, arguing over the petitioner's plea, remarked that only the aggrieved party can challenge the CEC appointment procedure. He observed that the petitioner was not an aggrieved party so the court would not entertain his petition.
