SC withdraws show-cause notice to FIA team in Hajj corruption case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday disposed of the Hajj corruption suo-motu case after submission of unconditional apology by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials for their negligence in investigation.

The two-member bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, withdrew the show-cause notice after going through the report submitted by the FIA officials that final challan against the accused involved in Hajj corruption case, had been presented before the trial court in compliance with the apex court's earlier orders, besides tendering unconditional apology.

It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court bench led by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, had issued the show cause notice to the FIA's investigatioin for non-compliance of its order in the Hajj corruption case.

The court had observed that the FIA officials were using delaying tactics and warned them of contempt of court proceedings.
