Legislators demand govt to resolve farmers' issues on priority

ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentarians on Thursday demanded of the government to resolve the issues of farmers of all provinces on priority basis.

Speaking in the National Assembly, they strongly condemned the Punjab Police attack in Lahore on farmers and demanded transparent inquiry of the incident.

They said the government should also take strict action against the persons, who are responsible for the incident.

Awami National Party (ANP) senior leader Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour while condemning the Lahore incident said that negotiation was the only solution of all the problems and the government should adopt the policy of talks with farmers to address their issues.

Member Jamat-e-Islami Sher Akbar Khan requested the Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control to order inquiry of the Lahore incident.

Muthidda Quami Movement (MQM) member Asif Hasnain condemned the beating of farmers in Lahore and said that the government should address their issues as soon as possible as agriculture is backbone of the country.

The MQM also staged walk out of the proceeding of the House on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan's abusive language against the people of Karachi, last day.

Later, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Raiz Hussain assured the National Assembly that he would talk to the Chief Minister Punjab and convey the grievances of Parliamentarians.

He said that problems of the farmers are in all the provinces and would be resolved on priority basis.
