Govt not to extend amnesty policy of holding dual NICOP, passport: NA informed

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary for Interior and Narcotics Control, Ms Maryam Aurangzeb Thursday informed the National Assembly that the government would not further extend the amnesty policy of holding dual National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) and passport of the overseas Pakistanis.

Replying to a Calling Attention Notice, Maryam Aurangzeb said that the previous and present governments announced the amnesty policy four times to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis in 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2014.

She said the amnesty policy was published in print, electronic media and on the web sites so that the information could be conveyed to the dual NICOP and passport holders.

Parliamentary Secretary informed the House that there was no administrative issues in Passport and Immigration Office and National Database Registration Authority in this regard.

Maryam Aurangzeb said that the present government has taken several steps in three years to improve the efficiency of both the organizations.
