ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday restored the membership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member National Assembly (MNA) Hamid Hameed and suspended Election Tribunal (ET) decision for disqualifying him besides issuing notices to the parties concerned.

The three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and justice Mushir Alam heard the appeal filed by Hamid Hameed against ET order over his disqualification from NA seat.

The ET had de-seated Hamid Hameed on a petition filed by his rival candidate, Barrister Abdullah from PTI for concealing assets of 278 kanal land while filing nomination papers.

The court was told during the course of hearing that Hamid Hameed had not concealed any of his assets and he had provided all the record to Election Commission (EC) with regard to his assets and he was allowed to contest the election for this reason too.

The counsel for rival candidate told the court that Hamid Hameed had concealed his property while submitting nomination papers.

Counsel for Hamid Hameed prayed the court to suspend ET decision and restore the membership of assembly in respect of his client.

The court while putting off the hearing of the case till May, 2 has sought reply from the parties concerned.

In the general election of 2013, Chaudhry Hamid Hameed got 132668 votes on a PML-N ticket from NA-66 constituency.
