Speaker refers five bills to relevant committees

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Tuesday referred five bills to relevant standing committees of the Lower House of the Parliament for further perusal and deliberations.

The speaker referred Holder of Public Exchequer (Accountability) Bill, 2015 to the committee. The bill was moved by Muhammad Raza Hayat Hiraj.

Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif said a consensus bill for eradicating corruption should be tabled in the House.

Leader of the Opposition Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah also supported the minister and said let the Accountability Bill be discussed in the committee and a joint consensus bill would be tabled in the National Assembly to eradicate corruption from the country.

The Speaker referred the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2015, moved by Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, to the Standing Committee concerned. The amendment in envisages revival of magistracy system.

A motion moved by Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani seeking amendments to the Rules and Procedures and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly 2007 was referred to the concerned standing committee.

The Islamabad Compulsory Civic Education Bill, 2015 moved by Ms Zarha Wadood was also referred to the standing committee.

Muhammad Raza Hayat Hiraj moved the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2015 amendment in Article 63. The House permitted to referred the bill to the relevant standing committee.

Meanwhile, Chairman Standing Committee on Finance Omar Ayub Khan presented a report of the committee on the bill to provide for incorporation and functioning of credit bureaus.

Chairman Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Human Rights Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk presented two reports of the committee to further amend the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (i) The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2014 and also (ii) The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2014.
