ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday expressed displeasure over the inefficiency of CDA to remove encroachment from the city and directed the authority to submit a detailed report regarding the housing societies and illegal constructions.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Saddiqi resumed hearing of a petition filed by a citizen seeking contempt of court proceedings against Chairman CDA for not taking concrete steps against encroachments, in compliance of court orders.

Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal and Member Environment Mustafain Kazmi appeared before the court.

The court observed that the civic body is only targeting vendors in drive against encroachment but has failed to take action against big fishes involved in heavy encroachment in capital city.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Saddiqi said that government and private land was being occupied along side the Sawan river, which is damaging the environment of the area.

The court directed the Chairman CDA to submit detailed report regarding the housing schemes and illegal constructions in capital within two weeks.
