Emir of Qatar due on Monday

ISLAMABAD: Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, will arrive here Monday on a two-day (March 23-24) visit to Pakistan on the invitation of Prime Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

The Emir will be accompanied by a high-level delegation including cabinet ministers, Chairman of Qatar Airways and senior government officials. The Emir and members of his delegation will be accorded a warm welcome on arrival.

It may be mentioned that Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani had visited Pakistan in 2010 in his capacity as Crown Prince of Qatar, to offer financial assistance of Rs 400 million for the people affected by floods.

Pakistan and Qatar enjoy close and brotherly relations. During the visit, the Emir will meet President Mamnoon Hussain and the Prime Minister. Both sides will discuss ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields including energy, investment, trade, defence and manpower. Regional and global issues of mutual interest and concern will also be discussed.

Qatar is home to more than 100,000 Pakistanis. Their remittances are making a valuable contribution to the socio-economic development of Pakistan.

The official visit of the Emir of Qatar will provide fresh impetus to bilateral relations. Agreements to be signed during the visit will further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation existing between the two countries in various fields.
