Karachi operation launched on MQM's demand: Khurshid Shah

ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah Saturday said it was the demand of Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to launch operation in Karachi against criminal elements through Army.

Talking to a news channel, he said all the political parties decided with consensus to launch operation in Karachi in order to establish durable peace, adding, after the operation the law and order situation in the city had improved.

Khurshid Shah said Karachi was the economic hub of the country and that establishment of peace in it was the top priority of all the political parties.

Militant wings in political parties could not be tolerated, the opposition leader underlined.

He said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was striving to uplift Sindh, adding, law and order in interior Sindh had also improved.

He said PPP had given a lot of sacrifices for democracy and that all the important institution were established during the reign of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

The foundation of 'Atomic Pakistan' was also laid during Shaheed Bhutto's government.
