Five-day anti-polio campaign begins in 12 UCs of Karachi central

KARACHI: The five days anti-polio campaign, postponed last week due to non-availability of security cover for the concerned vaccinators, in 12 high risk UCs of district central, began here Monday.

As per schedule 1,15,300 children, under five years of age will be vaccinated against the crippling disease during the special campaign in selected UCs of the district.

Authorities sharing details of the campaign said in Gulberg town of the district Union Councils 6 and 8 would be respectively covered with 7,270 children in Yaseenabad and 10,804 in Shafiq Colony.

In Liaqutabad Town UC-Two (Firdous Colony) with 2,962 children; UC 9 (Mujahaid Colony) with 7,507 kids; UC 10 (Nazimabad) 9,775 and UC 11 (Abbasi Shaheed) 5,734 children will be administered with the anti-polio vaccines.

In North Nazimabad Town UC 7 (Mustafabad) 9,430 children.In North Karachi UC One (Kalyana) 12,556; UC Four (Godhra) 8,677; UC 9 (Khamiso Goth) 13,848 children; UC 11 (Khawaja Ajmer Nagri) 12,681 children will be vaccinated against the crippling disease during the campaign.

The authorities said due measures have been ensured for proper identification of each and every vaccinator and volunteers involved in the exercise.
