Some 6,000 polio vaccine refusal cases recorded

KHAIRPUR: At least 6,000 cases of polio vaccination refusal by parents have been recorded in Khairpur.

This was pointed out by Technical Officer of District Polio Eradication Committee and representative of FELT-NSTOP Dr Akbar Ali Ghanghro during an orientation meeting on Polio Eradication and Expanded Programme of Immunisation.

The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner, Khairpur, Munawar Ali Mithani, a statement said Thursday.

It has mentioned that the people of U.Cs Karoondi, Pacca Chang, Faiz Gunj, and others of taluka Faiz Gunj and three U.Cs of Taluka Kotdiji refused to have polio vaccine administered to their children.

The Health Department Khairpur has a report of the matter to higher authorities, it was stated at the meeting.
