LAHORE: Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Pervaiz Rashid has said only narratives of Quaid-i-Azam could help transform the country into a real welfare state.

He said this while addressing a ceremony in connection with the 73rd death anniversary of Hameed Nizami organised by Hameed Nizami Memorial Society at Aiwan-i-Iqbal on Wednesday.

The minister paid homage to renowned journalist and a leader of the Pakistan Movement Hameed Nizami for his contribution for democracy in the country.

He said Hameed Nizami believed in democracy and dictatorship of General Ayub Khan affected his life as he was a sensitive person.

The minister was of the view that Hameed Nizami wrote against dictatorship and had to pay for it in the form of ban on official advertisements.

Criticising the 1962 Constitution, he said it had brought sanctions on democratic freedom and as a soldier of Quaid e Azam, Hameed Nizami felt it an attack on Pakistan.

He said a narrative was given by Hameed Nizami which was narrative of Quaid-i-Azam but, later, new narratives were introduced which promoted terrorism and this new narrative wanted to terrify the nation.
