Rs2bln set aside for labourers welfare

LAHORE: Provincial Labour Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar on Monday said, the PML-N government had earmarked a sum of Rs 2 billion for the welfare of working class.

Talking to a labourers' delegation at his Punjab Assembly chamber, he said, dream of rapid progress and development could not be materialized without promotion of education and provision of modern health cover to the people. He said, comprehensive steps had been taken for the promotion of these sectors.

He said, an effective strategy was being pursued for poverty alleviation and resolving problems of deprived segments of the society. He said, dozens of welfare programmes had already been initiated across the province.

In view of rising unemployment, the minister said, a number of schemes had already been initiated including provision of soft term loans to skilled but jobless people.
