Upon arrival, the President and the First Lady were warmly received by Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong along with his wife.
In the beginning of ceremony, President Mamnoon was presented his portrait by the Chinese Ambassador made by famous Chinese artist Li Quan. Various Chinese cultural troupes showed their performances in the ceremony, which were appreciated by the President.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Sun Weidong said that traditionally Chinese people returned to their native places in the beginning of Chinese New Year but this was for the first time that Chinese New Year celebrations were being held in Pakistan as people of China consider Pakistan their second home and Pakistani nation as their family.
