NHA to spend Rs12.9bn on Khanewal-Multan section of M-4

ISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority (NHA) would spend Rs. 12.9 billion on the construction of Khanewal-Multan section of Faisalabad-Multan Motorway, 57 Km is being financed by Islamic Development Bank (IDB) as per approval of PC-I from Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

The 57 km project would also form part of National Trade Corridor (NTC) Programme an official told APP on Wednesday.

He said Islamic Development Bank was providing 94 per cent funds for the project.

He said that about 60 per cent Physical Progress have been achieved so far.

The work of the project commenced in December 2011 with a completion period of three years having completion date of December 2014. However, the project was extended for nine months i.e. upto September 2015, mainly due to shortage of funds for land acquisition and slow process of relocation of utilities etc.

However, he said, the project was progressing well and it is expected that the project will likely to be completed by extended period i.e. Sept. 01, 2015.
