WELLINGTON: New Zealand beat Pakistan by seven wickets with more than 10 overs to spare in the opening one-day international at Wellington Stadium on Saturday.

Grant Elliott was unbeaten on 64 with Ross Taylor on 59 as New Zealand made 213-3 in reply to Pakistan's 210.

For Pakistan, Shahid Afridi made 67 and Misbah-ul-Haq 58.
