LAHORE: The Pakistan Ulema Council will observe Friday (January 23 ) as Condemn Day across the country against publication of blasphemous caricatures in western countries.

Talking to the media here on Thursday, PUC central chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said peaceful demonstrations would also be organised in different cities and resolutions against blasphemy would be approved in mosques associated with Wafaqul Masajid Pakistan across the country.

He said publication of blasphemous caricatures in France and other western countries was an attempt to sabotage inter- faith dialogue and efforts for the inter-faith harmony in the world.

He demanded the European Union and other countries to ban such papers and magazines which published blasphemous sketches.

To a question, he said the Muslims were not alone in the protest, adding that non-muslims, including Sikh, Christians, Hindu, Parsi and followers of other religions, were also protesting against the blasphemous caricatures.

He also appealed to the Muslims to continue protest peaceful not only in Pakistan but also in other countries.
