LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Thursday recalled bailable arrest warrants of Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after submission of commission's reply in a petition for scrutiny of parliamentarians under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

The court issued bailable arrest warrants of the secretary ECP for February 10 during course of proceedings on Thursday morning while taking a strict note on non-submission of commission's reply in the said petition despite issuance of four notices for the purpose.

However, later, a law officer submitted reply on behalf of the commission and sought apology for late submission.

At this, the court recalled bailable arrest warrants of the secretary and sought arguments from both the parties besides adjourning matter till February 10.

The single bench comprising Justice Shahzada Mazhar was hearing the petition filed by Javed Badar for scrutiny of parliamentarians. The petitioner through his petition submitted that it was confessed in ECP post election report that National Accountability Bureau, Federal Investigation Agency, Returning Officers and other institutions could not scrutinize properly the eligibility of the parliamentarians during 2013 general election. He requested to direct the ECP for the scrutiny of the parliamentarians under Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
