PBM provides medical assistance upto Rs 600,000 to deserving patients, NA told

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab said Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) provides upto Rs 600,000 to deserving patients for medical treatment. Answering a question of Dr Nafisa Shah, he said the assistance for medical treatment of major ailments and disabilities is provided through designated government hospitals.

The deserving patients are required to apply on prescribed proforma dully filled in by hospitals alongwith estimated treatment cost of the patient. PBM, transfers the required amount to hospital within five to six hours after verification.

He said the government has been requested to enhance the budget of PBM from existing Rs 2 billion to enable it to carry out welfare activities.

PBM also offers financial assistance to deserving brilliant students. The deserving are being provided financial assistance on plain paper along with the copy of Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and relevant certificates, and result cards.

Individual financial assistance (IFA) is also being provided to poor, deserving, destitute, widows, orphans, infirm, invalid and other needy persons on case to case basis. The assistance under IFA is provided after verification of financial position of the applicants.
