WELLINGTON: Sri Lanka were 78-5 at stumps in reply to New Zealand's first innings of 221 on Saturday, in the first day of the second cricket Test in Wellington.

Kumar Sangakkara was not out for 33. For New Zealand, Doug Bracewell has three for 23.
