Govt release Rs72.270mn for Narcotics Division

ISLAMABAD: The government has so far released Rs.27.270 for the Narcotics Control Division under the Public Sector Development Programme (2014-15) out of its total allocations of Rs.324.300 earmarked for the current fiscal year.

According to the data of Ministry of Planning, Development and Research, out of the total funds, an amount of Rs.7.796 million has been released for establishment of Drug Demand Reduction Cell in the Ministry of Narcotics Control Islamabad, for which Rs.19.488 million have been allocated in the budget of the current year.

Similarly, out of the total allocations of Rs96 million earmarked for Kala Dhaka areas development project in district Torghar, the government so far released Rs6.4 million.

According to the data, the government released Rs4.8 million for Kohistan Area Development project for which Rs87 million have been earmarked in the federal budget of current year while out of the total allocations of Rs15 million for Bajaur Area Development Project, the government so far released Rs4 million.

According to the data, the government also released Rs4.724 million for Mohamand Area Development Project for Mohmand Agency FATA for which Rs16.812 million have been earmarked in the federal budget 2014-15.

It is pertinent to mention that the government has released over Rs 140.071 billion under PSDP for various projects against total allocations of Rs 525 billion for the fiscal year 2014-15.

Among the major releases, Rs23,735 million have been provided for various projects of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and Rs7,693 million for Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Similarly, Rs14,802 million have been released for Water and Power Division (Water Sector), Rs15,216 million for Railways Division, Rs1,259 for Cabinet Division, and Rs28 million for Communications Division.

A sum of Rs157 million have been released for Commerce Division,1,843 million for Finance Division, Rs1,443 million for Interior Division and Rs414 million for National Food Security and Research Division.

The Planning Commission of Pakistan has been following a proper mechanism for the release of funds.

The Commission releases 20 percent of funds in first quarter (July- September), 20 percent in second quarter (October-December), 30 percent third quarter(January-March) and 30 percent in fourth quarter (April-June).
