Israel jobless rate dips to 5.6pc in November

JERUSALEM: Israel's unemployment rate edged down to 5.6 percent in October from 5.7 percent in October, as the number of those who work both full and part-time rose, the Central Bureau of Statistics said on Monday.

The number of employed increased 0.8 percent to 3.607 million, with 60.8 percent of those aged 15 and over having jobs, up from 60.4 percent in October.

The participation rate in the labour force of those 15 and older gained to 64.5 percent in November from 64.1 percent in October.

Part-time employment rose 1.0 percent last month while full-time jobs increased 1.2 percent.

Israel's economy is forecast to grow about 2.2 percent in 2014.

In the third quarter, Israel's jobless rate rose to 6.4 percent from 6.1 percent in the second quarter.
