Ulema condemn Peshawar school carnage

KARACHI: Religious scholars have strongly condemned Tuesday's Peshawar terrorism incident and expressed their full support to operation Zarb-e-Azb and other actions against terrorists.

The religious scholars from various schools of thought at a meeting, presided over by Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul- Ebad to review arrangements for Eid Milad-un- Nabi (P.B.U.H.) related programmes, said it is hard to find precedent in history of such a brutal act of the massacre of innocent children, said a handout issued here on Thursday.

The meeting lauded the governemnt and Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif's determination that the operation against terrorists will continue till the elimination of the last terrorist.

The Ulema also welcomed the government's decision to implement death penalties of terrorists.

The Ulema were assured that the government will provide complete security to Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) related programmes.

Earlier, the Sindh Governor addressing the meeting said that Ulema are playing their active role for Muslim brotherhood.

He said the Peshawar school carnage has united the nation and the nation stands by the armed forces.

The Governor urged the Ulema to seek prior permission from local administration before holding any programme in connection with Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) so that proper security could be provided.

Later funeral prayers in absentia of the martyrs of the Peshawar school attack were offered at the Governor House.
