NBP storms in Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Trophy final

KARACHI: Left arm spinner Muhammad Asghar grabbed the last two wickets to bowl National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) in the final of Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Trophy Gold League Cricket Championship when they defeated Port Qasim Authority (PQA) by 131 runs at NBP Sports Complex Ground, on Tuesday.

The four-day match ended within half an hour after resumption on the final day as PQA was bowled out for 302 in their second innings after starting the day at their overnight score of 289-8.

Asghar ended with four wickets for 117 runs in 39.5 overs. Muhammad Nawaz finished with four wickets for 62 in 26 overs.Nawaz finished with figures of 11 wickets for 93 runs in the match.

NBP ended with 65 points after the league rounds.

Bankers will now meet Sui Northern Gas Pipelines in the 5-day final starting here at the National Stadium from Dec 22.
