IG - Sindh seeks report about quality of police security for Lyariites

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Ghulam Hyder Jamali on Monday sought a detailed report about the security plan developed for the people of Lyari by Karachi police.

The provincial chief of the police department registering his serious reservation about recent incidents of clashes between gangsters that included firing and hurling of hand grenades in the volatile Lyari, directed the AIGP - Karachi to share with him the contingency plan developed to address the situation.

The Sindh Police chief has also asked the DIG- South to take a fresh stock of human resource, logistical support, provision for arms and ammunition allocated to each of the police check-posts established in the area, said a spokesman of police department.

Capacities and capabilities of the cops and officers designated at entry and exit points, to and from Lyari, alongwith those assigned with the responsibility to picket and patrol the areas was directed to extensively reviewed.

DIG - South has been also asked to despatch a report, the IGP- Sindh, about the professional capacities and personal capabilities of the cops serving in Lyari, added the spokesman.

He said special directives have been issued to the Karachi police to strengthen and streamline the intelligence collection and sharing procedures.
