No disruption in Thar relief works

MITHI: Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar Muhammad Asif Jameel has clarified that relief activities are continuing in drought-hit areas of the Tharparkar district.

He described a report appeared in a section of media about relief works' disruption as baseless, said a statement issued here on Sunday.

He said that besides wheat distribution, blankets, mosquito nets, dates, drinking water bottles and milk packets for children are being distributed among the drought affected people.

Asif Jameel said, in the fourth round of wheat distribution, an additional stock of 3105 sacks of 50 kgs was distributed among the people in Thar. He added that as fourth round ends, the fifth round of wheat distribution would be started.

The stock of blankets and dates donated by the PDMA is being distributed transparently under supervision of the assistant commissioners and Mukhtiarkars, he said, adding that he made many visits to different towns and villages in the district to review the relief activities.

He further said pregnant women are being vaccinated, adding that in addition to this, all other medical facilities are being provided to the people in the district free of cost.

The livestock is being vaccinated in the district and as many as 968244 cattleheads have been vaccinated so far, he said adding that mobile teams were formed to vaccinate livestock in the remote areas of the district.

He assured that if any complaint was received regarding relief activities, action would be taken.
