Gas consumers advised against use of rubber pipes for heaters, stoves

ISLAMABAD: The Management of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), Rawalpindi-Islamabad Region has advised the domestic consumers to take special care while using gas appliances and not to use rubber pipes for gas heaters and stoves.

A spokesman of the Company also asked the consumers only to use natural gas heaters and geysers as and when required in order to maintain pressure for all the consumers in view of gap in demand and supply of the gas.

While warning the consumers about possible gas related accidents owing to leakage of rubber gas pipes, he said that consumers at homes, offices, educational institutions and trading centers should not use rubber pipes for gas heaters and stoves.

Suggesting special safety measures, he said the consumers should take special care while using gas appliances to avoid untoward incidents during the winter season.

The gas appliances of good quality should be used and a trained plumber should be engaged to rectify gas leakage in houses.

The Spokesman also asked the people to keep at least one window in a room open while using gas heaters.

The consumers should desist from using electric fan or exhaust fan in case of leakage of gas and keep windows open.

He said the domestic consumers should switch off their heaters and geysers before going to bed to save gas and their precious lives.

He said that the consumers should contact complaint cell to get addressed complaints regarding leakage and theft in the Islamabad and Rawalpindi Region.

The complaint cell will immediately respond to any complaint or information about gas leakage or theft in any area of the region, he added.
