PTI activists block main roads

FAISALABAD: All shops, commercial markets, business and trade centers in the city, especially in eight bazaars of clock tower chowk, opened on Monday morning, despite shutter down call of Pakistan Tehrik Insaf (PTI).

The shopkeepers were seen opening their shops in Ameenpur Bazaar, Kutchery Bazar, Jhang Bazaar, Mintgomery Bazaar, Chiniot Bazaar, Kharkhana Bazaar, Bhowana Bazaar and Rail Bazaar.

The traffic on main and link roads was also moving, though slow, except some points and crossings including Jhal Khanoana Chowk, Novelty Bridge, Chenab Chowk, Kaleem Shaheed park chowk, millat chowk on Sheikhupura Road where PTI activists blocked roads by burning tyres.

A large numbers of PTI and PML-N workers holding sticks were gathering around clock tower chowk till the filing of this report.

A clash occurred between PTI and PML-N workers at Novelty Chowk Bridge where PTI workers were blocking roads by burning tyres. In the meantime, some anti-social elements destroyed the posters of a PML-N leader which led to scuffle. A young boy was injured due to firing by unidentified men.

The district administration has deputed heavy police force to control the situation. DCO Noor Ul Amin Mengal and CPO Dr Suhail Tajak went to city areas and tried to pacify workers of the two parties.
