Minister seeks mandatory routine immunization of kids living with jailed mothers

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Prisons, Manzoor Hussain Wassan on Thursday directed IGP for Jails and Prison, to necessarily facilitate immunization against polio and other diseases of children, staying with their imprisoned mothers, in different jails of the province.

Also taking note of news report about non availability of oral polio vaccine to some of these children during recently concluded OPV campaign, he sought immediate details from the concerned authorities.

Manzoor Hussain Wassan who also holds the portfolio of Anti Corruption and Mines and Minerals ordered IGP - Jails to ensure that health-care needs of these children are not compromised under any condition.

This necessarily include routine immunization provided under EPI and also immunization of these children during special campaigns as part of National and Sub National Immunization Days, said the minister.
