Fall in extortion, kidnapping cases witnessed: Ebad

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan has said that government's on-going serious efforts to improve law and order situation are bearing fruit, as visible reduction has been witnessed in the incidents of terrorism, extortion and kidnapping for ransom in the city.

He was talking to a delegation of the Pakistan Association of Management led by its president Syeda Naveed called on the Governor at the Governor House here on Tuesday.

The Governor said that the government is committed to eliminate crimes from the province. He further said the current statistics indicate that industrial growth has been increased manifold. He further said that low cost of business as compared to various other countries in the region, makes Karachi an attractive destination for investment. He said that there is need to project this potential rightly to attract foreign investment.

The Governor further said that the city faces very few energy issues, which is an encouraging factor for industries.

Dr. Ishratul Ebad underlined the need to revive the confidence of the private sector to promote foreign investment.

He said that Pakistan is the most suitable destination for investment from all aspects, adding that certain fields are more attractive for investment and profits such as energy, agriculture, infrastructure development and services.

The Governor appreciated the private sector which, he said, supported the country's economy even in the worst conditions and helped sustained economic growth.

He said that the government is responsible to provide facilities, and it is the job of the private sector to benefit from conducive environment. Principal Secretary Muhammad Hussain Syed and Secretary Akhtar Ghauri were also present.
