PPP committed to protect minorities' rights: Wasan

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Prisons, Minerals and Mineral Resources and Anti-Corruption Manzoor Hussain Wasan has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) always protected the rights of Hindus and other minorities and it will continue to do so.

Speaking in the Sindh Assembly here on Tuesday, he said that every citizen is free to practice their religious beliefs and no one has the right to force anybody to change his/her faith, said a handout issued here.

Manzoor Hussain said that they will not allow any mistreatment with the Hindu community living in Sindh. He said that the reports of forced conversions of some Hindu girls are an international conspiracy against Sindh, Pakistan and Islam.

The minister stressed the need to provide effective help and protection to minorities to foil this conspiracy and the nefarious designs of extremist elements.

He said that Sindh is the land of peace, love and brotherhood and this was the message of the Sufis of Sindh.

Manzoor Wasan said that instead of point scoring on such issues, there is need to devise a clear strategy to protect the rights of the minorities.
