Australia central bank can buy up to $1.6bn of Chinese bonds

BEIJING: Australia's central bank can invest up to 10 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) in China's interbank bond market, Chinese state news agency Xinhua said on Monday, as the two nations signed a flurry of deals, including a landmark free trade pact.

Xinhua said the investment quota granted to the Reserve Bank of Australia would be increased to 10 billion yuan, but did not say what the previous quota was. ($1=6.1242 Chinese yuan)
