SC seeks report on draining system around SC Lahore registry

LAHORE: A three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday adjourning hearing of suo motu notice regarding defective drainage system around the Supreme Court Branch Registry Lahore sought a report from Secretary Finance Punjab within one month.

The bench comprising Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Justice Umar Ata Bandial was hearing the matter at Supreme Court Lahore Registry.

Earlier, Managing Director Water and Sanitation Authority appeared before the bench and submitted a drawing/plan of project for rain water/drainage disposal around the Supreme Court Lahore Registry.

However, he told the bench that the work could not be commenced on the project as the finance department had not released the funds despite the approval of the PC 1 of project.

The bench adjourning the further hearing sought a report from finance secretary Punjab about provision of funds for the project.

Meanwhile, the bench summoned Secretary Health Punjab and Advocate General Punjab along detailed report for November 7 in another suo motu against deaths caused by Punjab Institute of Cardiology faulty medicines.
