Strike/partial strike observed against MQM's proposal to divide Sindh

NAWABSHAH/TANDO MOHAMMAD KHAN/THATTA: Strike was observed in different towns of Sindh on Thursday in response to a call given by Ayaz Latif Palejo Chief of Qaumi Awami Tehrik in protest against MQM's demand for division of Sindh.

In Nawabshah strike was partial as areas under influence of MQM remained open and business was as usual.

The inter-city tarnsport service to and from Hyderabad, Karachi, Moro, Sanghar and other destination remained normal.

Schools, offices and bank remained open. No untoward incident was reported from any part of the district.

Report from Tando Mohammad Khan said that partial strike was observed in the town and other parts of the district on the call of nationalists parties gainst any move to divide Sindh.

Main markets remained closed while traffic on the road was also thin and the people going to other cities faced hardships.

Report reaching from Thatta complete shutter down strike was observed to protest in this behalf and all markets, shops, cabin petrol pumps and other businesses were closed. Transport was very thin.

Sindhiani Tahreek took out a rally from Shahi bazaar terminating in front of press club. The participant raised slogans against division of Sindh and other anti-Sindh proposals. They vowed to continue struggle for unity and integrity of Sindh.

Thatta Bar Association boycotted the court proceedings. Lawyers led by president of Bar Association Muhammad Soomar Samoon took out a rally that marched on national highway to Makli. They carried banners and placards and raised slogans against MQM for anti-Sindh proposals.

Strict security arrangements were enforced by the district administration to avert any eventuality.
