SSPs to ensure foolproof security during Muharram: DIG

HYDERABAD: The Deputy Inspector General of Police Hyderabad Region Sanaullah Abbasi has asked all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of the region to ensure foolproof security arrangements in order to avert any untoward incident during the month of Muharram- ul- Haram.

Presiding over a meeting here at his office which reviewed the security arrangement for Muharram-ul-Haram, the DIG also directed them to consult with Ulema of all schools of thought, Peace Committees, mourning organisations and traders representatives before preparing contingency plan for the month.

He also called upon the Ulema to extend their cooperation and avoid such speeches which could harm the feelings of people of other schools of thought. In case of any misunderstanding or issue, the Ulema of all shades of opinion should find ways to resolve the situation with mutual consultation, he added.

He directed the SSPs to ask the DSPs and SHOs of their respective districts to ensure the security during the months with proper vigil on the routes of mourning processions, places of Majalis, hotels and guest houses. All stakeholders should be taken into confidence before preparing the contingency plans, he added.

He also directed the conduct of survey of the routes of mourning processions, establishment of control rooms and installation of close circuit cameras at the routes and Imambargahs while strict monitoring should also been carried out on the activities of the activists of banned organisations and students affiliated with religious organisations.

The Senior Superintendents of Police also briefed the DIG Hyderabad about the security plans of their respective districts.
