Services trade deficit up by 22.96pc in July

ISLAMABAD: Services trade deficit during first month (July) of current fiscal year 2014-15 expanded by 22.96 percent as services exports decreased by 3.85 percent while imports witnessed an increase of 6.78 percent as compared to the same period of last year.

On month of month basis, the services trade deficit decreased by 18.25 percent in July 2014 when compared to the deficit of June 2014, according to the latest data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

According to break up figures, the exports of services from the country during July 2014 were recorded at $327.84 million against the exports of $340.98 million recorded during July 2013.

On the other hand, the imports into the country during the period under review were recorded at $603.26 million against the imports of $564.97 billion during the corresponding period of last year.

Based on the figures, the trade deficit during July 2014 was recorded at $275.42 million against the deficit of $223.99 million in July 2013.

Meanwhile, on month on month basis, the exports from the country decreased from $342.98 million in June 2014 to $327.84 million in July 2014.

Similarly the imports of services also decreased by 11.15 percent by going down from $678.96 million to $603.26 million in July, 2014.
